Phil Woodford
After graduating in sociology from the London School of Economics, Phil worked in marketing for an engineering institute before pursuing a career as a copywriter. Initially joining a direct marketing company in-house, he then moved to agencies specialising in employer branding, recruitment and internal communications, becoming a creative director by his mid-30s. He has since worked freelance, supporting clients and agencies across a wide variety of sectors and media.
In parallel, Phil has built a career as a successful trainer and lecturer – specialising in the areas of copywriting and creativity; marketing communications; advertising and media. He is a Course Director for the UK Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Global Delivery Framework, an associate lecturer at University of the Arts London and Professeur Référent at OMNES Education, the private university network headquartered in France. His work has taken him around the UK and also to Dublin, Paris, Stuttgart, Hanover, Geneva, Milan, Barcelona and Montreal.
Phil was awarded a Master’s degree with Distinction from Kingston University London in occupational & business psychology, where he researched the espousal of corporate values and their impact on people outside organisations.
Phil has previously served as a charitable trustee, an FE College governor and an independent custody visitor to police stations in two London boroughs. He co-hosts a weekly news review show on Colourful Radio, broadcast on DAB from London’s Africa Centre.
